We grow yellow and red onions, but we also distribute other varieties. In addition to onions, we also distribute a variety of different squash and potatoes.
Minkus onions are grown in the famous Black Dirt Region of Southern Orange County, NY. Our yellow and red onions are planted, grown, harvested, packed, and transported right from our family farm.
Early transplant varieties are typically harvested at the end of July.
Seeded storage varieties are typically harvested at the end of August.
Yellow Onions
These varieties are by far the most popular mainly because they are the most versatile and readily available. Yellow onions have a gold skin with a off-white light yellow flesh. They are great for cooking as the natural sugars caramelize when sautéed.
Red Onions
These varieties tend to have a stronger, mildly spicy flavor when left uncooked, this makes them a great choice in salads and to top a sandwich. These types of onions will sweeten up when roasted or grilled. Red onions have a dark red skin with white and red rings in the flesh.

We transport onions right to you!
We provide reliable, efficient transportation using our own in-house trucking company, plus good relationships with many national carriers to ensure prompt, secure, temperature controlled transportation for our customers. Customer pick up is also available as we are conveniently located just four miles off the interstate system.
